FHailing from Brooklyn, NY, with proud Guyanese roots, DJ Kayla G—known as The Female Force—has been making waves in the music industry for over 16 years. She is an open-format DJ with a strong Afro-Caribbean influence, balancing roles as a producer, content creator, event planner, radio personality, mentor, and playlist curator.

Following in her older brother’s footsteps, Kayla developed a deep love for music early on. In 2008, she began sharing the latest releases on imeem.com, unknowingly setting the stage for her career. While distributing music to DJs worldwide, she decided to try DJing herself, practicing daily and gradually mastering her craft. Her early interest in blending genres led to her first remix, which caught the attention of Riddimstream Marketing & Promotions—sparking a lasting partnership.

Determined to showcase her growing talent, Kayla entered and won the 2011 Best Mix Contest hosted by Jamaica’s Tiger Records at just 16 years old. Shortly after, she joined Radio 21 under Johnny Wonder, sharing music with a global audience. In 2012, while attending college in Connecticut, she quickly made her mark as a resident DJ and earned her own radio show on Brooklyn Mix - 101.5 FM, interviewing artists such as Barbee, Prince Pin, Zoelah, and Fya Empress.

Her reputation as a skilled DJ continued to grow, and in 2013, she won a DJ Spin-Off hosted by DJ Envy of Power 105.1 and the University of Bridgeport. She reclaimed the title again in 2017. While balancing her higher education—including graduate school—Kayla remained dedicated to her craft, playing at private and public events and uniting people through music.

Today, Kayla dominates the field with her infectious remixes and high-energy performances. She has partnered with Bob Marley’s Tuff Gong Radio, 94.7 The Block, and SiriusXM and joined a team of esteemed DJs under Ineffable Records, curating Caribbean mixes for Apple Music. Her original music has charted in multiple countries, further proving her versatility. Beyond the turntables, she mentors up-and-coming DJs and continues to push creative boundaries in music production.
